Off-road lights locations - input
So, i finally stumbled across a 69/70 grille for my baby (yeah, that stupid tube grille is leaving!!!!). Any way, i'm looking for ideas where to relocate my off road lights. I'm worried that if i mount them to the front bumper, i'll hit them and smash them pushing things around the yard... If i mount them to a light bar over the cab, i won't be able to get in my garage any more...
i had thought about small brackets to hang them from the drip rail in front in the corners of the cab, but don't think that will look very good... Any ideas/suggestions? |

put it on the back or front of the roof on a hinge so they can swing over the front or back of the roof for clearance. some people buy roll bars that go on the front of the bed.

Sounds like it is time for a push bar! I think it would look pretty good on yours.

Here's one from American Classic Truck Parts-4" lights in the bumper.

I like the idea that 1969 C/K CST posted. You could start with your current bumper and cut some holes the size and shape of your off-road lights. Mount them behind it and then get it rechromed. While you are at it, you might as well smooth the bumper bolts too.

It sounds like to me that 69k10 is looking for something a little more industrial

Re: Off-road lights locations - input
Thanks for the inputs. I'm thinking push-bar for my 1st choice, and the hinged light bar for a back-up plan. i'm too hard on bumpers to take the chance of my lights being in them...

Re: Off-road lights locations - input
I mounted a pair of Hella driving lights in the old turn signal spots of my 71,72 bumper.
I changed out my 71 grille to the 69-70 grille(Personnal preference). Just fabbed up some simple brackets out of flat stock and mounted the brackets to the factory bumper brackets

That actually looks pretty good on that Blazer! Yeah.. the bumper is to a 71-72, but it does look good with the lights in it for extra visibility.

Re: Off-road lights locations - input
You could also fab up some brackets to mount the lights to the core support behind the grill..

i moved my parking lights from the bumper, to behind the grill, you could mount running lights, or some hellas back there.

Re: Off-road lights locations - input
I'd like to find a old-style push bar for my blazer. Does anybody know a company that makes a pushbar for a 72?

Re: Off-road lights locations - input
You have to be careful when it comes to putting lights behind the grille. Especially on the 71-72. Some of your off-road lights can produce so much heat as to melt down the plastic insert of the grille. This can also happen on the 69-70 on the black plastic sections.
