van tilt ?

i see guys selling and looking for van tilts for swaps in 67-72 trucks. is this because the truck collums sit so close to driver [ my only dislike of these trucks] just wondering what year van colums are used and if anyone has a link or info on this swap i have a 82 van tilt with cruse in the field of broken dreams also a 87 burb and 86 blazer which is best i would like to get the wheel closer to the dash ,thanks

You can get the wheel closer to the dash with the truck tilt or the correct van tilt. All you need to do is crush the shaft that goes between the column and the steering box. Easy mod, then you can slide the column in an inch or two to get your added clearance.
The van tilt you want will not have the key on the column. From the inside it will look like a truck tilt, inside the engine compartment you will be able to tell that the shaft is longer.
