Is there a way to remove the "home-job" type window tinting off of the inside of windows after yrs of baking it on and bubbling, etc.?

Grab a razor blade and some glass cleaner. Use the the glass cleaner as a lubricant so you dont scratch the glass and start scrapin a corner. You may be able to peel from the corner, but it may leave a film behind that youll need to scrape off. Have fun, I did my rear window in about 15-20 minutes.

Razor BladeJust be careful not to scratch the glass. You can get plastic razor blades too but they don't work as well.

I *think* ammonia will loosen the adhesive. That is what the tint shop said they use to remove old tint.

Get an edge started, and use a blow gun and it will blow it right off in one sheet. I have done this many times, then just clean what glue is left.

once you get the film off, you can use Acetone or Laquer Thinner to clean the remaining glue. The glue is the hardest part of removing tint. Be carefull with the acetone or thinner. Pour some on a rag, wipe the glue, let it sit and soak, pour more on rag, and then wipe. Repeat, repeat, repeat. If you can keep the glue damp, the easier it is to come off, and flip your rag pretty often because it will build up with all of the old glue and if you dont flip it or change it out often, you only put the glue on the rag back on the window.
hope this helps... ------------------ Keep On Truckin' Shane Athens, Alabama |

Just did this myself yesterday. Went got a razor scraper( handle with replaceable razors) cost 1.53 and just sprayed the window with windex and scraped it right off. Then went back and sprayed alot of windex on the window and scraped the glue off next. Used a new blade for each window. Took me about 10 min each window including wing windows.

I found out a few days ago that starting fluid removes the glue pretty well. Wish this post would've popped up a few days sooner though. Spent a few hours scrapin' on mine
