Jonboy! You would know better than anyone, what year did those "original" bumpers come in BRASS?

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

I looked at the pic and thought, OK besides the brass plating it still looks like it has nice paint. Put some chrome back where it belongs and it's a pretty sharp truck.

Then I viewed the pic of the motor....YIKES! What's up with a "restored" truck having a red exterior and a.........I can't even say it.........

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

that truck looks like a hack. Look at the rear tires in the wheel well opening. Better not hit a bump or you'll cut down a tire.

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

When did an originally restored '75 model come with an '80 frontend, and shaved body?
If they give me a dollar I will take it as long as the duct tape limit strap on the door comes with it.

Thumbs down Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

Dang it Chris ya beat me to it and those wheels dont look like any stock rims that chevrolet ever offered.

And when did chevrolet offer a square tube grille in any year!?

I dont care for the huge rear tires on it they look way outta place and i agree if you hit a good bump yer gonna tare up a tire and a fender!

He says it has won best paint, interior, & truck!!! What was it the only vehicle at the show? Im sorry i just dont see it in that truck.

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

i suppose i'm in a minority here, but i think it looks kinda cool

the rear tires are too big, granted, and the front tires are too small...and the brass looks like doggy doo, and like ken said...whats up with the blue engine bay?

aside from that stuff...it dont look bad to me

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

You can put about anything in those auctions, provided you don't mind paying their commission. I am pretty sure you don't necessarily see every car that goes across the block on Speedvision.

We had a 58 Cadillac limo not be able to go through the Kruse auction here a few years a go, so I ran my 88 'Vette in it's place. Not really a classic or anyhing, but it sold nevertheless. I had to find another ride home, though.

Is that a plexi-glass side window? That curve at the front edge of it looks scary, if it is glass. yicks.

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

Interior isn't to bad for having everything painted. To me when you hear Barrett Jackson you associate it with expensive, nicely restored.

The 75 isn't that bad nothing some paint and a few different accessories couldn't fix. But it doesn't look like Barrett Jackson material to me.

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

Those are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's on the front and they are a very old tread pattern , like from the late 70's or early 80's . How long has that thing been in storage ? Did anyone else notice that the front bumper has been trimmed and tucked in tighter ? My unrestored 78 deserves to be there more than that . But.....I bet it brings 10-15 grand. Frank

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

That has the real rare one piece side glass offered only in 1975 . And to think that soo many here have trying to make this for years ..... Someone should buy it for the rights to the side glass alone . Frank

LMFAO

He's probably the second source next to the military that keeps Brasso in business.

Oh and if THAT is what one-piece side glass would look like, I'll stick with my fully-functioning wing windows, thank you.

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

Man how did you spot that gauge? It sure looks fried. You guys are a tough crowd. It's a custom to me nothing like I've seen in the past Barrett Jackson auctions. I think if this person would match whats under the hood with the rest of the theme of the truck it would draw way more bids. You think something like plexiglass valve covers with matching brass roller rockers. Now maybe this will inspire some of you guys who find yourself wanting to part with your money pit to use Barrett Jackson, because alot of you guys really have super nice rides that I drewl over.

P.S. IF I SEE ANYONE ONE THIS BOARD USING MY PLEXIGLASS/BRASS CONFIGERATION I'M TAKING LEGAL ACTION (HA HA).

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

Well lets see. Bondo in the fender, and the rear wheel well is full of car in a can.

It may be me but I would have splurged and got the $6 chrome t-stat housing. But hey some people like the factory peice withthe 3/4 pipe plug sticking out.

Edit: Just look at the rear shot again :lmao: The wheelie bars are a nice touch for a (325) horse engine.

I think the painter forgot to tape up up the doors. The interior looks like primer grey through out including the vents.

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

I viewed this truck at Barrett - Jackson and most of the remarks that have been made about it are wrong . yes , it has a lot of eccentric touches but the truck was very well finished with beautiful paint , attention to detail , many added features and things like that . I talked to the owner a very nice guy and he told me he expected to loose money on the truck but had other projects going and needed to move on . I think most people could not build a truck that well , regardless of its odd touches .

Re: Barrett Jackson...Humm.

Well, you certainly saw it in person, which we did not, but what I (and others) see in pictures really doesn't scream "attention to detail" to me. It looks like it would have severe tire-rub issues, the engine bay looks like your run-of-the-mill DIY spray bomb job, what appears to be a super-sloppy starter heat shield install with wire wrapped around a valve cover stud, painted split-loomed tubing with the paint chipping off, paint issues on the driver's side cylinder head, a screwed up gas gauge, and god knows what in the areas that we can't see in the pictures.

I do see a lot of nicely done body and paint work, but other aspects of the truck seem either very rushed, or done by a person whose expertise lies in other areas (such as paint and body work).
