any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
While searching some other forums I came across a guy that reproduces the saftey sticker for the drivers side doors on 71-72 (maybe others I am not sure) I waited until I got mine to check on quality and it is pretty good I must say....attached is image of the sticker....if there is interest on this board I will get his permission to post his emai and you can contact him.....cost for the sticker was $16 and comes with two in case you screw one up.....
You will need to supply your vin and build date for correct sticker |

I definitely want one for my 2wd Blazer. Mine is blue, so I hope he makes them in different colors than the one shown. Thanks for the info.

I want one too! The door tag on my truck doesn't match the VIN on the title or the original VIN plate.

Re: any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
When I get done with this resto I might want one, thought it looked cool, but mine was kind of rough, so we removed it. Mine was blue on the 1970, does that have a color to it ?

mine is blue too... I was thinking the color on the pic was off just a bit...even if the actual color of the sticker is off, I am still interested.

Re: any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
So how did you find him to get the email address? Is he on the web or ebay? Maybe we could look there if he has a product that he obviously sells and has not yet returned your e-mail.

Re: any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
Geez you people are very fussy when it comes to quality reproductions I guess. I'm sorry but that is the worst reproduction sticker I have seen. That won't even hold a candle to the wind. Most aren't worth the money. These have been available from variaous places so don't be so eager to plop your good money down on these things. I won't take it for 8 bucks.
Watch evil bay. They show up on on ebay or have been in the past. I bought some there but they aren't near the originals. Here is another link to a "cleaner" one: http://www.drdecal.com/store/search....id=574&ccat=63

Re: any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
The Dr. Decal comes blank as I see it where the first one listed has the date and VIN in place.
How were these made for each vehicle? Meaning is there a special type or can I type the info in with a regular typewriter and look original? Dr. Decals look great but need that finishing touch.

nu2.......the originals where a printed sticker where the other info was typed in separate....not sure if a typwriter would do the trick but that is what I am going to try....

Re: any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
Typewriter should work but will more than likely be of a different font (type style) than what the original stickers used for the vin and date info. If your really concerned about using the correct font, I belive the old IBM Selectric can be setup to use different style fonts. They use a ball with the alphanumerics on them to print and are interchangable.

Re: any interest in "Safety Sticker" for your door...
Guys,
I am the person referenced above. If you are looking for a specific color, font, or dirrerent year or later model door sticker I can usually work with you to get it exactly as you want it. I'll even send pictures to get approval before printing. This is not a business for me, more of a hobby or better yet a service to the hobby. It started when I could not find a decent sticker for my 1970 JUDGE, so I set out to make my own. I do not advertise, I do not do e-bay. Each sticker is custom made for your car. The price covers my materials and time. Earlier model years are $18 late model are $25. Here is a sample (with an altered VIN) that I just did for a guy. Many times people send me a close up picture of their original. This also helps me get it as close as possible. For those looking for a typewriter - the one GM used back them was an IBM Wheelwriter. The problem here is the ink smearing off the label. The labels I make are completely waterproof, have an acid free adhesive applied and come with a clear overlay aterial so they look like the originals. If interested you can e-mail me at dchapma1@rochester.rr.com Don |
