I've been thinking about installing a rear sway bar on my 69 GMC. When I am done, like these things ever get done, I'll be running 2 1/2 drop spindles in front, 4 inch drop coils in the rear.
Looking for input on whether this is a good mod or not. What sway bar did you use, Camero, other? How does it improve handling?

i read somewhere that you can use the rear sway bar out of a late 70's Camaro. All you need to do is make a spacer for each side. But I also thought someone made a rear sway bar for the 67-72 trucks

Many vendors on this site carry the front and rear sway bars.. performance online has em right now for 229 that includes both bars and everything to mount them..www.performanceonline.com

I have a rear sway bar from Classic Performance and I love it. Every truck I will every get will have front and rear sway bars. A little info on my truck is 72 long wide with front and rear sway bars, front dropped 1 inch with drop springs and rear lowered 3 inches with drop springs. I also have an adjustable track bar, polyurethane cab mounts, and a close ratio steering box. The truck handles like a dream.

So can you tell us the difference in handling from having just a front bar to having bars at both ends? I ask this because on another truck I had the truck would push into corners more [became "tight" as racers say] when I put the big bar on front. I never did add a rear bar to see if the balance improved to more neutral.

Now that I have built an air ride chassis, I am wondering if the rear bar makes for a big difference in handling. I have the ECE front sway bar installed now, but the truck isn't back on the road yet, so I don't know how it will handle.

Rear made a noticable difference. At least on a Burb. Here's a link to what I did (Camaro rear bar)

Frizzle and all, thanks for the imput. Think I'll start shopping for a Camero sway bar.
Frizzle are those Coddington Timeless rims in your avatar?

I would recommend the bigger IROC bar. At least for my Burb, it feels like it could use a little more. The stock bar might be just right for a truck though. You can easily upgrade later if you decide to.
