Re: Need cab squared...

I try to even up the distance from the bottom edge (lip)of the rocker side to side, in both front & rear of the cab to start with. when you start hanging front tin, the hood/fenders will tell the story pretty well on alignment. You may need to play with the pcs a little to straighten em up, but its not too bad. crazyL

Re: Need cab squared...

Take some notes on the height of the cab from the mounts in each corner. It is easy to torque them down unevenly. One end has the big square washer that, it left out, will tilt the cab and throw off the front fender gap. Watch the core support mounts too since they are another big source of front fender gaps! This is the part of assembly that I actually really enjoy...adjusting the front sheet metal and doors! I know...I'm sick!

Re: Need cab squared...

I would suggest assembling the cab mounts and radiator support mounts but don't tighten all the mount bolts down until the nose including the front bumper is installed. You will see why when you get there.

Re: Need cab squared...

The square washers are for the front cab mounts, my last new set came with 2 for each front cab mount (4 total), but they are optional, the mount will work fine without it. They may be needed to get your fender/door gap right.
Some trial and error will likely be needed to shim everything square.

Re: Need cab squared...

cduster, Mudder is right...but mine had only one on each side. I left them out and had to replace them when I adjusted my front fenders and clip. Trial and error. Bob...come on up...I will be glad to help. I just love getting those doors so they close with a nice click!

Re: Need cab squared...

This is the part I am at right now as well but in a lot more trouble then you guys. I started my 71 6 yrs ago and since then I did a 2" body drop, sectioned 6" out of the bed floor and cut the frame in 8 spots so everything would lay just how I wanted it. So my next step is to fullu assemble the body, shim as needed and then re-make or adjust all my mounts as needed. It will be alot of work but well worth it when completed.
