I can't get the ignition bezel loose... I untightened it... was holding the back of the ignition switch and it just keeps spinning. not wanting to come off. What am i missing?

I can't seem to find anything in my manual that I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First you have to remove the ignition cylinder, and then you will be able to remove (unscrew) the chrome bezel, and then your ignition switch will come out from behind the dash.

How do i remove the ignition cyliner?

There is a little hole on the front of the cyinder....put a paper clip in there while turning the key to the left towards acc. and pull out.

That little paper clip trick is worth $. I was cursing for hours until I figured it out. You want to not turn the cylinder too far though. You just want to turn it to the first stop and gently pull it out.

Sorry, should have added that step in more detail...

With a 67 truck, key in the ignition in the Off position, insert the end of a paperclip into the small hole in the face of the ignition cylinder (you should feel it press in with some resistence as you are compressing a spring in there), then turn the key to the left and gently wiggle it out.

With 68-72, everything is the same except instead of the Off postion, turn it to the ACC (accessory position) before inserting the paperclip....

Happy New Year! Fiddled with it for 30 minutes before I gave up and went to the experts fopr help. The ignitition switch was the last thing to remove from the cab before I pull it off of the frame of my '71 K10. Thanks.
