Need measurement on drive shaft..
I have finally got the 454 th400 combo in my truck and running but need a new (shorter)drive shadft from the tranny yoke to the carrier bearing waht it the best way to measure for this or does someone have a measurement from theres?? My motor is in the front mount holes and the tranny is a short shaft..

I am useing the 2 pc shaft... Was not sure on a 0ne pc shaft

The diff from a 350 T (shortie), & the 400t short , is 11/16 ". The 400 being the longer of the 2. Assuming that you havent moved eng position (swapped sb to BB), 11/16" should work as the shortening figure on the shaft. if you have moved stands/swapped things.....the best way is "shove a bare slipyolk into the trans till it bottoms, then pull it back 3/4 min, to 1" max. measure from the center of the front U joint caps , to the centerline of the bolt holes on the carrier bearing". this will give you the lenght of the front 1/2 of the shaft, that the D line shop can work with good luck...... L oops, figured with the weight of the truck on the wheels.....

Mine was 56" center to center with the short tail 400. 53" now with the 700r4...
