Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

How is everyone running their exhaust with a under bed tank?

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

I was thinking I'd route out before the rear tires... Or better still, I'd blast a hole in the bed and exit with a chrome ring around the exhaust tip...
Who has pics of headers for these 67-72's? I'm looking for good headers for a small block that don't drop below the frame...

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

i have mine over the axle with a blazer tank conversion. works perfectly fine. just wish i had flowmasters on it instead of the dynomax (?) mufflers. it dumps right as it comes over the rear end. looks fine and works perfect.

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

My exhaust stops just behind the cab and the fuel cell is behind 9" rear end.
The skid plate in the avatar hold the cell in.

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

Exhaust with the under bed tank should not be a problem. Here is a shot of mine, sorry it is not the best. The pipe loops up over the rear axle then flares towards the outside of the truck just in front of the tank. This shot only shows the driver's side but gives you an idea. Hope this helps.

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

The same as I would on a Blazer or Suburban.Heat should not be a problem as long as you have air-space.

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

Mine turns out in front of the rear tires, of course it's a blazer and not a
truck, but you get the idea, lots of pic's in my siggy link, pages 14-16 ?

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

I don't have pics of it but I saw a system that went through the frame rails. The owner boxed the frame in about a 8" section and then welding a 4" section of pipe at a 45 degree angle. Then he was able to run the exhaust out side the frame rails without going under them. Sounded really good.
I have the exhaust running out before the rear tires on mine at it is to loud in the cab for me. I like a loud exhast system and all I just want to be able to hear the radio too.

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

mine go parallel with the frame, and 90 out in front of the rear tires. keep in mind if you have the poly version of the blazer tank, keep the exhaust pipes 3 inches away, if you're running the steel version, use an inch or so (you should be able to slide your hand through the gap)

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

I ran mine on the outside of the frame and then to the back. They turn out at a slight angle to the corners.

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

Didn't want to see the exhaust so it was up over the rear axle turned down about 3/4" from the bottom edge of the beside and about 1/2" below the bottom edge of the bedside. Leonard's on South 1st Street did it and did a very nice job....

Re: Eexhaust With Underbed tank?

@QKENUF4U
you should turn those down, water will collect right there, and the fumes get stuck under the bed that way
