Frame stretch



I am thinking of stretching my frame about 16" has any one done this to our trucks ( I have done semis ) do I need to plate inside and out on all four butt welds.

I stretched a 1 ton frame about 5 years ago 22''. I plated the inside with the same thickness steel plate as the frame. The plate I used was 48'' long. I bolted it first to make sure everything was lined up, then stitch welded.

I am considering using frame stiffeners from ECE on a frame shortening. They would work for lengthening too, but you might need two per side. At that price I'd prabably just use 1/4" plate. Here's what they look like anyway:
