okay santa brought me a i pod for the holiday. anyways i was wondering how to disable the auto eject on my tape deck so i can listen to my tunes. i have the tape deck that is mounted under the dash in front of the center consal. i looked threw the owners manual and it made no mention of how to disable this ejection action. also my head unit is the stock cd with the tape deck under the ac plugg ins . My first question is why do you need to disable it. If your running an adapter throught the cassette it should stay in there till you manually eject it. least my daughters does. I personally never heard of an option to disable auto eject.

yes i know but it just shoots it back out. i think the reason being that the player thinks the tape is getting eaten because it has no film on it just the metal real!!!

Use an FM transmitter. They are inexpensive and work quite well over short distances. We have a Belkin and an I-Rock.

not sure what you mean. i am new to all this complicated tape deck cd combos....... al i want to do is listen to the i pod in the 2000 tahoe. like i said every time i put the tape thing that plugs into the ipod's headphone jack it plays for like 5 seconds then the tape ejects i am guessing because it thinks it is eating the tape because the tape has no film just the metal roller. i looke in the owners manual and it said how to disable this function if i had the tape deck head unit but does not even mention my setup. it is definatly stock one,

you also have another option of getting an ipod interface that would plug into the back of your head unit where the cassette deck plugs in, and you can control the ipod thru the head unit. the fm transmitter is easier to install and less expensive, but also less clarity that an interface.

Turn the tape adapter upside down and try to stick it in that way. Those things only play one way, and if your tape deck's auto reverse isn't working, it'll just eject it. I'm thinking there's something wrong with your tape player, anyway, as I've used adapters in my truck before with no problems.

The other option is (like everybody else has said) an FM transmitter. Not sure if Apple makes one specifically for the iPod or not, but they're pretty popular these days, what with all the different radio accessories out there. Wal Mart probably has one. No guarantees on how well it'll work with the iPod, though.

XM, some time ago, produced an FM modulator that was hardwired into your car. You gave it 12V, and you ran leads between your antenna and your radio, and all you had to do was select the station on your radio. Works *great,* but it was also $50. Definitely higher quality than a wireless modulator *or* the tape adapter, though.
