Rear axle breather thingies

Does anyone have the part# or replacemnt for the rear axle breather set-up .. Little plastic thing????

what does it look like? all i had was a rubber hose about 2 feet long clogged with dirt, and i took it off and forgot where it came off, so i need to get one back on.

Mine had a little piece of plastic in the end of the hose kinda had a little helmet type thingie on the top of it.. I f it stops raining I will get a pic of it..

i install a see-thru fuel filter on all my diff's vent tubes.it keeps dirt from getting in the diff and vents them also.

What about water getting into them??? Fuel filters flow both directions correct???? Just wondering how well they would work on a mud truck..

I used a Polished vent that I got from summit. I had to tap the rear end for a 1/8" npt. Looks great though. May be some pics in my thread below.

Is it the little line going into the crossmember? Any idea on what is is really for or is it really a breather???

that's a brake line, how would i connect my breather, all i have is a hole in the differential. it's not threaded either.

In July of 99 the GM part # was 8640496 VENT. At least that is what's on the receipt from the last one I bought. The price then was $2.94

on a mud truck i would run the diff's vent hoses up in the cab!

You can use GM #15771000. They are about 2.50.
