How good is the 402????
 I have a number matching 70 GMC LWB Truck w/ 402BB TH400, 373 Posi, 97K original miles, rust free, all original...I'll post pics later (Main bearings went out  ) But What I was wondering is since the 402 is pretty much just a boared out 396 from factory, will this motor loose a lot of strength if I get I machined. I plan on supercharging this motor, with a Vortech setup Let me know what you think How good is the 402BB???? Thanks!

I have the same 402 mildly modified. What are you building a 1/4 mile runner or a crusier?

The 402 is a great engine, I've had several of them and they respond very well to preformance mods. Big Blocks rule!!!!

I'm building a shop truck for my business, It will tow, drag, cruise, and what ever else I want I to do....I'm Only pushing for 400-500 horse nothing too outragous (at least for me) Oh and by the way I bought the truck last spring for......$50....drove it home!

It may only need a hone when you rebuild it.It could be original/never rebuilt so prolly not bored yet.You should be fine.Have a looksee.
