vent window glass install

What's the best way to insert and "glue" the vent glass into the frame? When I disassembled it it seeme to have a rubber or urethane gasket that held it in, and naturally I didn't keep it.

I bought the GMCPAUL's kit which has some white foam strips in it...but are these meant for the vent windows? I meant to call him today and forgot.

Talking Re: vent window glass install

I went by a glass shop and got some of the rubber/felt stuff.I then smeared some clean trans fluid on it and slid the window into the frame. They told me to use trans fluid after it dries it will make the gasket material swell and hold the glass in place.Worked for me it's held for 2 yrs now.

Re: vent window glass install

I went to the local shops and this is the stuff they gave me. It's got a cork center, with canvas on one side and a "no-slip" type surface on the other side. I got it to work, but the cork core is showing. I think I'm going to hit it with a sharpie just to get it black. Here are some pictures. This stuff was called "tough pack".
