Bought a truck :)

After searching for a couple months for a c10 swb, I decided on a custom c20 instead. The Good - She's in great shape overall, very little rust except for a little surface rust along the drip rail. The Bad - I found a weak cylinder during a compression test, hopefully it's in the head and not a compression ring. I plan on performing a cylinder leak test soon to pinpoint the problem, hopefully I can just pull the heads for service.

I ordered replacement wing window seals...is there a perfered method of replacing these seals?

Looking forward to further reading on this site

Re: Bought a truck :)

Nice ride! The vent seals aren't too hard if you have an assistant to help hold things together while you whack the rivets during reassembly. Do you have a vise and workbench?? I think it would be a lot harder of a job without. I didn't drill out the vent pivot rivet, it's stainless and my kit didn't have a stainless rivet. I ended up taking out the pivot hinge with the glass frame.

Ya it didn't look too bad - I replaced the window felts on pass. side, then had to give momma a break from our 2 yr old. There's one in the oven as well...so I think it'll be sometime before I really get my hands dirty on this thing.

Re: Bought a truck :)

Welcome to the board. There are definetly a lot of benevolent members of this website. I was wondering, why did your truck have a black out grill> I have seen white bumpers as well as body color but I have never seen black grills? Good purchase though!

Re: Bought a truck :)

Hi to All - I think short term I'll work on small repairs - window seals, drip rail prep and sealant, and remove what little rust there is to prevent nasty rust down the road. I need to investigate the weak engine cylinder further so that's at the top of the list. And by next summer I'd like to have the a/c funtional..it's missing the a/c compressor, and most of the associated parts under the hood. Not sure if I should try to find original replacement parts, or go with a classic air kit.
