Recent comments by Putter and Yukon Jack indicated that they were using S-10 seals on their trucks doors. There was also an indication that the fit was tight, making the doors hard to close.
I plan on replacing my door seals soon and wonder if the S-10 seals are a good idea.
Is this a worthwhile modification? Better than aftermarket rubber?

I too am using S-10 door seals. They are tight, however getting better. I would not go back to the original seals myself. Talk about ease of installation!

they just slip on instead of glue and there alittle thicker i think

I think the rubber is better. NO glue needed and easily removed for paint jobs. If you want to try them out before buying, go to a junk yard and get one off a S-10, take it home and install it on your truck and you will see for yourself. (This is only to give you a general idea of how they fit and look). I agree with 71swb4x4 about probably being too short overall.

If you get seals from the junkyard they will probably be too short. When you order the weatherstripping they give you extra, but on our trucks it's only a couple inches.

how hard is HARD (closing the door)? is it a good pull, or put your weight into it, or slam the poop out of it? 1 to 10, 10 being the hardest with the s10 and also with the stock weather strip

What years? Are they all the same? I was just at my local GM dealer and I used '89 for a year (just out of thin air) and was quoted $89 per door and they were NOT cut to fit. I noticed on the other thread mentioned above, that it was noted that the S-10 wether stripping was "cut to fit". So, again, the question is: what years do we look for?

82-93 S10&15 Door Opening Weatherstrip

When he mentions "cut to fit" he is saying that you cut it to fit. It's not the exact length out of the box. That is GMC Paul's weatherstripping, and I am not sure if the dealers is the same.

I grabbed some seals at the junkyard off a 80ish fullsize chevy and put on my wife's '68. They work fine with no door slamming.

I bought brand new weatherstiping for an s-10 from lmc and at first they were stiff but after about a month I can close my doors with a slit push.

What do you do at the bottom? There's no lip at the bottom. Sorry if I soung ignorant but when I go this truck it had no weatherstripping at all. It was a basket case,

GMC Paul's sell Precision (or Precise) brand door gasket seals for the S-10s for about $50-60/pr and they work great. Yeah, they're a little stiffer than the stock glue-on gaskets but they loosen up over time. IMO they are the only way to fly. Plus, they have a lifetime warranty.

There's supposed to be a lip at the bottom!

It is under the sill plates.

Great. The PO was a friggin IDIOT! He put in new rockers (poorly) and shaved the bottom lip needed for the weather stripping. There is NOTHING under the sill plates. The lip just abruptly ends after making the turn about an inch at the bottom. Moron!

just lay the seals on the rocker and put the sill plates over them
or do ya mean theres a big hole there ya can see though to the ground ?

Here are the S-10 seals I'm using. Pretty sure I bought these from GMCPauls - they are listed on his site.

They fit extremely easily and there is maybe a 1/2" to 3/4" gap on the bottom where there seal ends just about meet.

Mine have been installed about 3 months now and they have broken in nicely. Still need to close the door firmly, but that is fine with me.

I'd do these again in a heartbeat.

I welded a piece of 1/2" X 1/2" 20 (?) guage angle where my lip had rusted away.
