6 x9 Speaker Placement ?

Since I removed the in-cab tank and placed it under the bed, I've been considering installing a pair of 6x9's in the cab corners facing forward at somewhat of an angle just below the inside cab corner lip. Have a pair of Pioneer tri-axial's 150 watt that ought to do well there but no sure how to mount them. Was thinking of using 1/2" stranded fiber board but not sure how to secure it so that it is stable. Placing removeable metal or plastic grills over the speakers for protection would be a good thing. Want to be able to change or pull out the speakers without a lot of dis-assembly. Any one who has done this care to share some tips and info?

good luck with that. i could only afford 5X7s and i'm now glad because there's not much room for a 6X9

here, but on the opposite side in the above pics. you probably didn't recognize it because i welded that corner shut with a flat piece of metal and cut a speaker hole.

Agreed. Check with a Jeep distributor, they have small 6x9 boxes made for the tight spot between the inner fender and roll bar that should fit well...

Re: 6 x9 Speaker Placement ?

Thanks for the ideas on speaker placement. Will have to look into some of the smaller speaker boxes as the truck has new paint job otherwise the welded panels may have been an option. Should have thought about speaker placement a bit sooner I guess.
