Interior Carpet Suggestions 72 GMC Sierra

I have a 72 GMC Sierra with a rblt 350 out of a 78 blazer. The previous owner put in some yellow shag carpet , one rectangle piece with a V cut out to compensate for the hump. I am going to simply replace it with a new piece of carpet but thought while I have the seat out and the floorboard exposed that maybe I should put in some type of insulation layer and then a top carpet of thin material? I have never done this sort of thing but I saw at my local chevy truck store this real expensive insulation and wondered if anybody could suggest a cheaper insulation if any and any other hints on carpet.

How would you do it?

Re: Interior Carpet Suggestions 72 GMC Sierra

First of all, welcome to the board from Central Ohio.
As for your carpet quest, any of the truck parts vendors can supply you with something to replace the shag you have in your truck. If you need to keep it on the cheap side, I'm sure JC Whitney can help you for 100 bucks if not less. However, www.gmcpauls.com or www.classicheartbeat.com or even www.lmctruck.com can get you abetter quality carpet. (the LMC one has an awsome catalog that can almost be used as an assembly manual...it's free too, but there prices and quality can be a little on the poor side)
There's others to check out too. These are the ones we try and stick with. There's others out there, but these guys support the board and help pay the bills around here;

The ones with out sites are more of the used parts guys on our parts board, they can come up with some pretty awsome deals, but I doubt rugs are too sommon in there inventory.
