I'm on a limited budget and I'm not sure what to go with.
You can read in there what i'm running with.

Someone told me in here to go with the T5 from a S-10 and now i'm not sure
one person told me to go with some Mopar Tranny.

I need the folks that have done this transplant in their 67-72 to please stand up and tell me what they've done or should have or should not have done, what mistakes were made and their "glory" Story.

I have a 98 vortec engine and a 5 spd nv3500 5 speed from a 2000 s 10 4.3 v6. They are bolted together and sitting in my chassis now.

I to need clutch, flywheel and hyd pedal setup information as well.
This particular tranny has no slave cylider setup everything is done hydraulically as far as the throw out bearing.

This is the same tranny you will find behind a 88 and up manual half ton truck, I know this is true because I have a 92 half ton with this same tranny.

I put a T5 in my 68 behind a 350 using the stock clutch pedal assembly. I had to fab an adapter plate between the tranny and bell housing. I used an 11" clutch plate, etc. from an Astro van. You can get a lot of info on this on the inliners.org website.

I did the NV3500 conversion several years ago. Mounted the clutch master cylinder on the firewall behind the brake booster. Modified stock clutch pedal linkage to operate the clutch mc. Had to have the driveshaft length changed then balanced. BIggest PITA was the lack of speedo as the newer trans are all elec sensed and not easily converted back to cable. You can buy an in line elec to cable converter for around $300. Transmission worked very well. Sold truck last spring.

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I love having a 5 speed. The T5 is not the perfect tranny for my truck. The T5 is good for about 290 ft lbs of torque. My 350 puts out about 300. I'm a cruiser, not a racer. The T5 won't stand up to repeated launches. I can cruise at 80 turning 2600 rpm. I am also told it is not a good tow tranny. I had to have a driveshaft built, too.

hmmmm.

I'm not a racer either. Have you done any burnouts or such.
I once hauled 2200 lbs (no that isn't a typo) of sand in the back of this truck. Do you think that this T5 Trany could do it? What is the most that you've hauled?
I don't race, I just like to "show off" everyonce in a while - know what i mean?

Camaro drivers busted them up repeatedly with 190HP 305's. Add the weight of a truck into the mix, and I don't see why you'd even consider it. Save the money and headaches, and get a Tremmec TKO or nv4500.

That's just it, I'm trying to save the money in gas and I don't have 2000 Linclons to be spending right now.

gr8scott51, if you ever want to upgrade to a TKO for your 350, put me first in line for your tranny will ya? With my 250, it should work great and I really hope to do this within a year. I just can't justify a TKO behind my I-6, not to mention the expense!
