question for 4x4 owners
Hi,
I have a shortbed K10 1971 4x4 that I need to buy shocks for. I was going to buy bilsteins for it, but found out today that they only make shocks for the front of my of a 1969-72 k10. What shocks are you guys running. what kind do you recommend. (i am looking for the smoothest ride possible on road) My truck spends 95% of it's time on the pavement. Thanks Tom |

rancho 9000, i think those are great shock since you can change the pressure in them by turning a little knob. that would be my choice, for a regular shock, man bilsteins are great. they are made right but somtime come with the bushing but those shock are tough

right now i dont have any shocks on my K20, but it has rancho, 5000 i think, on the front

I haven't used them but the adjustability of the Rancho RS9000's ought to be great. A couple guys on the board use them so I'm sure they will chime in. These will be my next shocks.

Before I lifted mine I bought some regular monroe gas shocks for $80 back in 92. It rode as well as could be expected for a 4x4 I think.

I have the Rancho 5000's on a stock suspension. Ride is firm, which I like. Next time I will go with the 9000's or something similar. That way you can set the ride to where you want it. (I would set the shocks stiffer in the front where the weight is.)

I'm running the Rancho RS9000's and I'm very happy with them. The truck rides better than stock with an 8" suspension lift and these shocks. 5 adjustment settings. 1 being the softest and 5 being the firmest. I run the fronts at 3 and the rears at 2.

Rancho 9000's
I've been running the 9000's for 7 years after running the 5000's for a long time. Nice to have the ability to adjust the ride and u can feel a difference in the adjustments.
