Door locks

Well the truck that Im buying is ALMOST finished.

The only thing it needs is some door locks. The PO had some but unfortunately sometime during the paint they have been lost. What years are the actual door lock cylinders the same?

The truck is a 1976. When I called the local junk yard he said that they would be hard pressed to find locks that old especially w/ keys.

Thanks guys. I will get pics up as soon as I get the truck.

Re: Door locks

I used to be a Locksmith, it's much cheaper to buy locks.

Buying them at a yard is asking for trouble, and a waste of money.

Had a gal brought some locks by that she bought at a yard and then wanted me to rekey them for her.

Was honest with her that I could sell her two new locks with the keys for the same kind of money that she paid for the junk from the yard.

Re: Door locks

GMC Paul sells nice quality locksets. His have cylinders for both doors and the ignition that are keyed alike and I believe are American made.

I bought something similar from Chevy Duty. I think it was under $30, with doors and ignition keyed alike.
