I was wondering what is the widest tire I can put on my stock rims(not sure of the stock rim size, besides being 16's).

I have 215/85/16's on there now, but they just look WAY too skinny for the truck.

I didnt think 16 was a stock rim, but i could be wrong. Mine are 15's

ummm....not to nit pick...but if its stock, shouldn't the rear be a 14bolt??? I was pretty sure 70 was the last year for the eaton....and 4.10's were the highest gears you could get???

Hmmm, well I could be learning something new myself. I bought the truck about 1.5 years ago and the guy told me it was pretty much all original except for the 400 SBC and the 400 Turbo. I could have been mislead however, and he switched out the rear.

But he told me it was a factory 3.73 non-posi, 10-bolt Eaton HO52...and the wheels are definitely 16" with 8-lugs.

Now I'm confused!

That sounds right. You've got a 3/4 ton truck. I can't help with the tire size though. I bet ya a cold beer that info is in the restoration packet, the owners manual, and possibly the gm assembly manual. I just got my resto packet, lots of info in there...

as far as the widest i am not sure. i think i am running 235/70/16's on mine they seem to fit pretty good.

If they are the 6" rims, the biggest recommended would be a 255/70x16. I'm not real familiar with the 3/4 tns as much. If they have a 7 or 8 " rim you could easily get a 285/70x16 on a 7". With 8" I think your limit will be tire clearance, not the rim width.
