okay looking at my up coming build i am starting to look at headers i find some from advance auto call flowtech ( Flowtech Headers: Standard; Chevrolet/GMC Trucks Small Block; 1-.50" Primary Tubes To 3" Collector Size; Black) for 89.98 a piece http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...e=1359&ptset=A

has anyone ever used flowtec h headers if so are they worth the money?

I had them on my 84 besides lasting 2 years before rotting out and changing the gaskets Bi monthly because of the thin flangs. They are oky.

In other words buy a good set of Hooker or Heddman's along with copper gaskets and you will have a trouble free system.

Also 1 5/8 to 3" would be better sizing. IMO.

I kike the Hookers better and I run both. The copper or deadsoft aluminum is the way to fly for gaskets. Flowtechs have a oblonged hole, not round nor sqare and that makes the gaskets blow out because of the port mismatch.

Some ppl will swear by $100 headers, but they probably never ran good headers though.
Some high quality headers like hookers will outlast cheapies by many years. Not to mention there will be less headache installing them, and working around them.

If you go through Summit Racing, or Jegs, you can get the painted Hooker comps for around $150 shipped to your door. the Supercomps, or ceremic coating gets very pricey tho! I run the Comps (painted, for my budjet), & love em

Ya I heared flowtech was junk so I went the next step up and got my hedmen hedders and I lvoe them. But I did have to grind the fram a little bit to get the drivers side to fit.

I installed a set on a nova project a couple of years ago. The headers looked good, but once installed, I should have bought stock in a gasket company. I had lots of trouble keeping them on and tightened up. Thin flanges. I replaced them with Hookers, it was money well spent. I bought from summit.

Ive been runnin the flowtech headers for the last 6 years with no problems other than the collector gaskets blowing which was fixed with a 2 and a half inch donut from regular exhaust manifolds placed inside the collector by the guy who did my last exhaust setup.
