Cleaning up under the hood

I got an 86' SWB that Ive turned into my hotrod. Im currently building a new engine for it, and since the engine is out I figured I would do a some work cleaning up under the hood.
Im thinking of getting rid of the air conditioner since I never use it, and trying to clean up all that mess on the passenger side with the heater and stuff there. And also get rid of the condenser in front of the radiator to help airflow to the radiator.
Is there anything I can do to clean up the big heater box under the hood? Id like to keep the heater for sure though.
Also what have ya'll done to ya'lls trucks for under the hood? post pics if possible as Im looking for some ideas, since this is gonna be more of a custom than a stock truck.

Re: Cleaning up under the hood

when my dad replaced his engine he did a total tape-off and paint of the engine compartment. He had bought some stuff in a spray can that had chunks of rubber in it. he sprayed that all over his firewall as a sound deadener and heat insulator. it worked really well and looked a little like rhino lining on his firewall. only had to use one can too. his screen name is mhicks if you want to pm him

For the heater if you just clean it, tape it off and paint, you can get something like this. If you spent more time on the prep work I'm sure you could get it looking better than mine.
