holes in cab

no not the rust i know what that is! the row of holes across the back of the cab are these factory for some sort of trim to hold a cover over the fuel tank or somthing drilled by a po it's a 72 gmc cab with all the goodies [white int ac judging by holes in floor i think it was oraginaly a bucket seat truck

If it is a bucket seat truck the factory would put in carpet to hide the gas tank and look more finished. It was installed with screws on the inner panel around from door to door.

was there trim or just a beaded edge on carpet wondering if i should weld them up or not
