Hello i have some questions for you folks i just picked this 86 Blazer up for $445 and it is in pretty good shape except the motor is blown. My questions are i am wanting to do a engine swap from a 6.2 diesel to a gas 454BB. What i need to know is can it be done.? what things do i need to do the swap? Any help would be much appreciated.

The trans will probably work just fine. The engine mounts should work as well, but may beed to be moved. If you could find the fuel system and engine wiring harness out of a gas truck, you would be set.

I think the converter and the modualtor (or solenoid) is different from the deisel to gas. I thinks its still usable but not ideal.
Best bet would be to find a gas truck and get all the parts you need.

Re: Need help on swap

I did a similar swap, but used a small block. It bolted right in, the exhaust even bolted up. I drained the fuel tank as best as I could and then filled it to the top with gas. A little bit of diesel mixed in will just cause it to smoke a little until you burn thru it. I had some headaches getting hoses to work, so I ended up cutting them and putting metal pipe in the middle to make them work. All you need is the alternator wiring and a keyed hot for the distributor. I capped the ends of everything and wire tied them out of the way. I am not sure about the convertor being different but you will want to change the vacuum modulator. Good luck

Re: Need help on swap

Diesel converter has a lower stall than a gas converter...
