2 piece or 1 piece driveshaft
I have a 74 short step and i am a a position where i can either replace my carrier bearing or just throw up a new single piece driveshaft. does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this matter? what are the pros and cons of each?
i may also be looking for a one piece that is approx 66 1/2" from the middle of the front to the mid of the rear u joints if anyone has one available |

I replaced my two piece with a one piece. You can steal one from a older van or suburban. You woill probably have to get it shortened though. Make sure they balance it though. If you have a two piece the driveline angles may not match up if you switch to a one piece though. Just some thoughts.

Cost is much easier to have a longer driveshaft cut down and balanced. To have one longer they don't like doing so and there you are with a custom driveshaft bill $$$. One piece driveshaft = no maintenance aside from u-joints vs two piece with the carrier barring maintenance plus u-joints.
I would go with a one piece driveshaft being you have a swb. It gets harder to do that with lwb trucks being pretty long and pinion angles. goto http://www.Car-Parts.com that should let you search salvage yards in your area. They should have a driveshaft for you truck.

I have one available with a Turbo-400 slip yoke. $50 plus the ride. The yoke alone was $65

what year trucks came with a 2 peice because im lookin to get ride of a 1 peice for a 2 peice because im baggin mine and i hate the way 1 peice has to be set just right
