running brake lines.....
does anyone have any tips and/or tricks on running new brake lines on a bare frame..........

1. Compare all of your new brake lines to your old brake lines; they should look the same or very similar. (I have gotten incorrect lines in the past)
2. Some trucks have different line routing, so lines may not look the same, but the end points should be the same. (where fittings connect) 3. Connect all of the lines finger tight before tweaking any of the lines to fit. You may have to move the lines around to get them to lay in place. 4. Expect to have to hand-form the lines to get them to fit correctly. (The line suppliers only get them "close") 5. Get some flare nut wrenches to tighten the fittings, once everything fits. Don't overtighten, you can damage the flare and/or the fitting. 6. Walk, don't run. Good Luck. |

You won't regret the stainless... I got mine from inlinetube and I was very happy with the fit.

Be careful when getting stainless brake lines. Some of the line is not annealed properly and will crack or kink when bending. I do know that what Inline Tube handles is properly annealed. I'm sure there are others, too. www.inlinetube.com has some good tips on their site.

I used the inline tube kit and was thoroughly impressed with quality and fit. The instructions were clear and complete. I put about 200 miles on them in dry/rain then the truck sat for 8 months and just now removed them for my frame off. They looked brand new and with a swipe of the rag were just as polished as when they arrived in the box.

So could somebody tell me what lines I should order? I have front discs, but the front brake line runs across the back of the cross member. What year truck should I order? Thanks!

I have a 71 crossmember that had brakes line along the back. So I would say 71. If you get them from inline tube, just talk to the sales person they should know too. The guy that I placed an order with had a 70 C-10...we chatted for a few minutes
