2wd blazer question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I’m not having much luck finding a 2wd Blazer. I have been thinking about doing a conversion. My question is…what do you do about the 4wd title? I was thinking of using the 4wd fame and replacing the front end with a 2wd from the next body style and the rear with a 4 link.

Hmmmm, no idea how you get around that one, the title that is, but
the swap is relatively simple, just labor intensive, and lots of work

Your converted 2wd will still be titled as a 4wd.

How does that affect insurance? 4wd is usually higher.

this is my 0.2 if it is not a original 2wd 70-72 frame i will not put money on the project.your only fooling your self.

I say who cares if its titled as a 4wd? If you want a 2wd just convert it, does it really matter if it was original or not? If you are wanting to get it super low, it may be easier anyway. the frame is straight in the back which will make a big notch alot easier. you could section the front crossmember before you put it in.
Alot of guys would rather see you cut up a 4wd than an original 2wd anyway.
Personally Im going to cut mine up even though its an original 2wd.

Is a Gibbons bodied 37 ford with an ART Morrison chassis and crate motor and irs jaguar rearend, custom leather interior still titled as a 37 ford? Who knows and who cares. It is what you like and what someone else likes when it changes hands for lots of money.

Armando, being the owner of an oem 2wd and a converted 2wd (69 4wd tub on a 70 2wd chassis) I can say without a doubt that either one is worth having...

I know what a 1999 C5 Vette with a 1961 Truck body titles: A 1961 truck. At least in Oregon. No emissions

The only reason I would want to know about the 2wd vs. 4wd is for insurance cost.

Ya better check California laws. They can be strict on modifying a vehicle. You should call the DMV or search their web site before you get into the project. I'm sure it can be done, but with every passing year, they seem to make it more difficult to modify vehicles.
