What did you get done this weekend?

I started with a real good washing for the longhorn... it was getting pretty nasty. Underbody, back side of wheels, fenderwells, scrubbed the bed liner real good... I'll be moving my baby sister's house hold goods next weekend, and I don't wanna get her stuff all nasty.
I started with pulling the inst panel out. I wanted to do some more painting in there, (I'll get pics tomorow) and I was sick of no speedo and an inacurate fuel guage.
Some of you may remember a month ago or so i posted a Q about my fuel guage... it would read 1/2 tank when the tank was full, and then go empty at about 1/8 of a tank. Well, it turned out to be the little resister thingy on the back of the guage. Replaced that, the needle went straight to full. (just tanked up this morning)
I've also been looking for a real short speedo cable. My rig has stock cruise control and the cable between the speedo head and cruise control servo thing on the fenderwell snapped back in September, and I finally gave up looking for now. I simply went to the junk yard and grabbed a full length one and slapped it under there. Bummer the speedo turns out to be inacurat huh?
At least my guages are better looking and my fuel guage works properly.
Then, i installed a black stock headliner. Non headliner truck, i just glued it up in there, looks great, and gets rid of the echo from the stereo.
Then, I pulled an old door from Longhorn #1 and start woking on it.... like 8 trim holes to weld up, quite a bit of pitted rust to deal with, and some turned into a 3 inch by 2 inch hole.... butt welded some sheet metal in there... coat of dura glass, and then I DA'd the whole outside of the door. Started getting sleepy and called it a night after squirting a little pimer/sealer.

So what did you get done?

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Well, I started the day off going to freakin COMPTON to look at some parts a guy had...turned out to be a waste of time. Got home and started block sanding on several panels. Was able to get the drivers fender and door done as well as the drivers bedside. I then laid down a couple real thick coats of high build primer over the whole thing (minus the hood and the drivers door and fender are not attached).

That was my Saturday anyways, tomorrow it is a full day of laying around doing nothing (my back is toast)

Mike

Installed a new battery tray in my 72 chevy. It was no easy task, I had to use a BFH to make it fit.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I just came back to work after taking off for 2 1/2 months(since my wifes stroke). It's all I can do to stay up for my 12 hr night shifts. I actually got to drive my gmc to work tonight though, and noticed that my son removed 2 pieces of lower side trim(by force). Either someone clipped him or he scraped them off on a tree or something. The door trim is completely gone and the front fender trim is forward into the wheel well and bent. I'll quiz him for the details tomorrow...

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I spent saturday cutting wood and loading the old c20 with the wood. Then drank some cold beer and went to bed. Sunday I will watch the Colts kick Pitts butt then probably go duck hunting in the evening.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

This is long weekend for me. Friday I didn't get much done as I had to drive 9 hrs round trip to bring my daughter and some other girls home for the weekend. Saturday I swapped the front crossmember/suspension assembly from the 70 to the 69 frame. The 69 had some worn out components and I knw the 70 was tight. I also dropped the tranny out so I can get it rebuilt. Sunday is the son's birthday, so no trucks stuff probably. Hopefully Monday I can get some more things done.

Spent a few hours sat. working on the abrasive blast cabinet I'm building. Very close to having it done now. Maybe I'll throw a coat of paint on it sunday, and then lookout cause everything in sight is gonna get blasted!

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Saturday was a good progress day. After sanding down the drivers door, I re-installed it to the cab and aligned (pita). Sanded down and primered the left fender and set it back on temporary until paint time. Removed old tailgate from fleet bed and started working on the replacement gate. All in all a good day. I'm not sure if I'll be working on the truck today, as it's gotten cold and windy here (25 to 30 mph winds). My garage has heat, but also is not the most insulated either. So, I might save on the "Oil" for heating. If the wind stops, then I'll go back out and start on the pass. side.

I still haven't decided on a paint color yet......

And being an old "Baltimore Colts" fan, I do hope the "Indy Colts" whip up on the "Steelers" today........

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Finished building my sandblasting cabinet.
Got an oven for powder coating, need one more so I can rob both elements out of it and add them to my much larger cabinet I am building.
Took apart the 68 Front clip I am using for my 71 SWB fleet project.
Organized my garage a bit.

Yesterday was my birthday, so the wife and kids left me alone to my own devices. I got alot done!

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Friday night: New gas tank went in
Saturday: Changed oil filter, put seat in, center hump sorta bolted in, rode around in it for the first time since Thanksgiving
So far today, I have rode around in it a little bit. Camproad is all gooey and nasty, so I didn't go to far. I got quite a bit done.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

I was due for a major tune-up.. I replaced the plugs, cap, rotor, and plug wires.. I bought a set of Taylor wires this time. They seem to be of nice quality, although the 90 degree boots are rather large so they're a little closer to my headers than I would like. I changed my oil. When I was greasing the front suspension I noticed a little slop in the drivers side upper ball joint. I had new lowers on the shelf, so I bought new uppers, and replaced them all. after that I washed it, and watched some football.

GreaseMonkey, Thats a really nice firewall there. I am Impressed.

I went to put my new driveshaft in only to find out I measured inside to inside. So I am a 1" shorter than it use to be. Crap.

Re: What did you get done this weekend?

Worked 13 hours in the rain Friday, still catching up on recent storm damage repair. Good chunk of the day was spent looking for the bullet hole some rocket scientist put in the phone cable. Spent Saturday goofing off and watching football -- will probably do the same today! Faithful old truck just sits there waiting for me until I go back to work tomorrow....

Kept looking at my messenger over, and over, to see if another board member was to respond about shipping me a part I need so that I can keep working on my truck. I'm at a standstill without it. JOHN
