where to put a tach
I'm interested in putting in a tach. I've actually got an '89 suburban (posted here b/c it's the same dash, but a lot more action than the burb forum). It's got the 2 big cutouts that has the speed and gas gauge. The 4 small ones have voltage, oil pressure, something else (can't remember) and a tranny temp guage I put in.
Has anybody put a tach where the large gas gauge is but somehow still had the gas gauge?? Where have you mounted a tach outside the cluster?? Any pics?? |

Re: where to put a tach
I mounted my tach on an aluminum piece that is clamped onto the driver's side windshield post. I used the screw that is already in the trim piece and took the aluminum flat bar and drilled it and tapered it to have the windshield rubber hold it firm. The tach then screws directly to the piece and sets just above the dash pad. Works great and is easy to see when you are working the engine hard.

Re: where to put a tach
Here's my tach. I have put these smaller ones in the lower left dash before. (sorry, no pics.) I haven't yet with this one.
