Can a GMC hood and fenders work on a 68 Chevy? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm pretty sure the GMC fenders and hood are the same as a 68 chevy but wanted to make sure. I know the radiator support and grill are different, but wanted to be sure the hood and fenders would work.

Any info is appreciated.

As long as its a 67-68 hood it will work.

Yes the fenders WILL interchange as will the hood if it is 67/68GMC.

OK, I guess my question is, if I had a GMC nose (unknown year) could I use the fenders and hood with a 68 Chevy radiator support and grill to replace the original fenders and hood (and still have the same appearance)?

From what I understand GMC used the same fenders from 67-72, with the 67's not having the side marker lights. These fenders are equivalent to the 67-68 chevy fenders. SO you can use any year (67-72 gmc fender) with the 67-68 chevy nose. BUT you can only use the 67-68 GMC hood with the 67-68 chevy grill. I think that's what your asking. Someone please chime in if I am misguided.

My truck has a 67-68 GMC hood, 68 Chevy Fenders and a 67-68 Chevy Grill and radiator support. Since the fenders are interchangeable as stated above, what you want to do is possible, it is simply bolting it together!

As a side question, what is different from a 67-68 GMC vs a 69-72 GMC hood? Could help me id what parts I'm looking at.

ScottH - the 67/68 hood is slanted in the front. The 69/72 hood is more upright. The upright hood really doesn't fit the 67/68 Chev grill.
