Arkansas Parts Mecca
Well, well, well.....
My father brought me a 1971 C-10 stepper for an early Christmas present a few weeks back, and he mentioned that he knew were two more trucks were if I wanted to look. Well, when I went to visit for New Years, I drove by the place he mentioned to see for myself. Heck, I counted nearly 7 trucks out there, but the place was closed. So, home I went, wondering what was out there in that yard. Well, I decided to make the long weekend even longer by taking Friday off, calling my buddy GMan, and heading off to Arkansas. We picked up my dad, and headed to the junkyard.... (And oddly enough, I lived only two miles from it my ENTIRE LIFE, and never knew it was there). Anyway, I will include a few pictures of what we found. I think I counted 21 trucks out there like ours. And he has Chevelles, Impalas, lots of old Galaxy stuff, F-100s, and tons of cool others.....all in one location and VERY organized (I am not ready to give away the secret location just yet......I know....shame on me) And, sadly enough, not a single tach or tilt in the bunch!!! Anyway, here are the photos..... ***NOTICE GMAN scoping out the C-20***

Re: Arkansas Parts Mecca
....found my stash, didn't you?
Man, it is good to see that you found the stuff and that what you really wanted, just wasn't there!! Honestly, I've seen some of these trucks, still being used here in Arkansas. I know, you're from Mississippi (I love spelling it!) and any excuse to get away from it, has to be good (just kidding.....I have a sister and two nieces who live in MS.). It'll be alright, tho. Just keep it to yourself and we all know you will enjoy it that much more. Congrats on your latest project. Hope you find all the stuff that you need.

Re: Arkansas Parts Mecca
Well, I can't keep it to myself and not feel guilty. If anyone has ever followed along past threads, they will know EXACTLY where I am from in Arkansas. Although I call Mississississississippi home now, southeast Arkansas will always be "HOME". (hint...hint)

Re: Arkansas Parts Mecca
You can't see it, but the second picture bedless truck) had a family living in it.
A family of beavers, evidently. The entire cab was full of tree limbs and sticks, neatly stacked, just like a dam. We didn't dig around in that one!!

Is that the original cab? I wonder if it is a carryover from 67. I have heard of this before........

Re: Arkansas Parts Mecca
Kinda funny, some of those trucks look nicer than one's I've seen people driving or trying to restore. That dually looks really solid/straight as well as the copper colored shortbed pic above that one.

Re: Arkansas Parts Mecca
Southeast Arkansas is a whole lot like northeast Louisiana and western central Mississippi, ain't it?
Speaking of families living in the cab, one would be wise to check out the confines of such vehicles during the winter months. Otherwise, could be cottonmouth, or a rattler in there, huh? Sorta depends on how wet they could get or how wet the surrounding terrain gets. Since you cited a possible beaver infestation, sounds like water to me. The red/white bed sitting all alone, looks like it has a decent tailgate....at least from the inside view. Who knows? My tailgate may look good to some folks from other parts of the country. But, that bed doesn't look too bad, at least on the right side. Upper trim is gone, but I don't need trim.....heck, I don't even need another bed.....just commenting on the sheet metal. Good post.

Re: Arkansas Parts Mecca
That bed was awesome. The drivers side did have a dent behind the wheel up high. Like he rubbed up against something...not HIT something.
