salvage yards near austin?

Anyone have a list of salvage yards near (within an hour drive or so) the Austin, TX area?

In particular, where I might find an old GM P30 van with a cummins in it

Try Highway 71 East Auto Salvage. A couple of years ago they had several longbeds and a 2-3 Suburbans. I haven't been there since so they might be gone.

There's nothing left at Highway 71. I was there a few weeks ago. They had one 67-72 and it was done.

Cant say for sure what you will find there as I never was there looking for Chevy parts, only F word parts. But Harolds in Briggs, TX is a gold mine for old parts. There is one in Cedar Park that has old stuff and always Action Auto Recyclers in Temple, TX. and All-A-Motive in Killeen.

Killeen, Copperas Cove and the Surrounding Fort Hood area has a few small junkyards that you ahve to drive around to find but I know I have seen Chevy trucks in them.

Will work on some phone numbers If I can and getting the name of the one in Cedar Park.

It is a shame but I know the one in Briggs had two 67-72 Suburbans in it at one time and they are now gone. He keeps a set aside area for older stuff so I can only hope someone, somewhere is restoring them now.

Re: salvage yards near austin?

i live in san marcos and frequent a salvage yard in seguin. 123 south out of town. jacks or jims or something but it is a great place. well organized and many trucks of our vintage. some still even have parts. i was there 2 weeks ago and saw a 68 with a good front clip and sheet metal.

drive south on 123 from san marcos, go all the way through seguin, and about 5 miles out of town, turn left at the old international jeep/truck

The one in Seguin is John's Salvage yard, yes many parts n trucks but he is very proud of his stuff and everything is expensive. For example he wanted a ww switch for $5 less than a new one, unreal.
