Re: Barrett Jackson - 1972 CHEVROLET CHEYENNE SUPER SWB PICKUP

That's a really nice looking truck, but does restoration mean adding what looks like a camaro tach and later rallye wheels? I would have thought restoration meant factory original. Nitpicking on my part maybe, but at Barret Jackson you would think restoration would mean, well, original. Just my 02.

Nice truck

Restoration does not always mean 100% original

Yea, that first one has non-stock tach and wheels. Even looks like different seat.

Second one is pretty cool engine wise.

Both nice trucks, but you know me, I'm in to 3/4 ton 4x4's myself...

It drives me nuts when the dash bolts are painted. The ones that hold in the heater control for an example. The bodyshop painted mine too, I fixed them with flat black paint. It kills me to open the door of a restoration and seeing the door latches painted over.

i didn't like seeing the black paint wearing off the stearing wheel and the blue peaking through although it is a very nice truck little things like that make me wonder what else was hacked and covered with lipstick before putting her on the corner

Re: Barrett Jackson - 1972 CHEVROLET CHEYENNE SUPER SWB PICKUP

My thought has always been and probably always will be, if it is nicer than my stuff I don't nit pick. I think they mention it in the Bible, somethinng about let the person without sin cast the first stone? None of my four 67-72 trucks/Blazers are that nice so I do not hit on anyone else's stuff. As for the tach, I have a factory tach and when I wind the BBC up it buries the "factory" tach, so I'd rather have the Camaro tach that goes over 5k and I think the Blue you see showing through the wheel may be a reflection (of the sky [blue]) I am not sure, but anyways, it is obvious that it is a repaint, so there must be another color down there somewhere. I'd have either truck in my driveway.

This one went for $33,480 there. This really helps our values.

Re: Barrett Jackson - 1972 CHEVROLET CHEYENNE SUPER SWB PICKUP

I think it depends on where you stand. The reason I liked these trucks is that they were cheap. I thinks it's annoying to see our trucks starting to get priced up. But, I suppose it's inevitable. I hated to see muscle cars get priced off the road and turned into non-cars. No normal guy can have a GTO, or a cuda. That's a shame.
I'm glad I got what I got when I got it.

Not so sure this was very good ROI for the seller. I guarantee there's more than $33K in that truck. The paint job alone is quite likely $10K-$15K.

I agree. But 2 years ago I do not think he would of hit this price. I love the truck and think it was worth more. I just think it is about time the value of these trucks are going up. The parts, paint and labor are still close to the same price of a Camaro, Chevelle or Nova but they seem to get a lot more money for them. I know when mine is said and done (hopefully by the end of March to mid April) I would not be able to sell it for that price.

What makes things bad also is now every A** Hole will think his rusted old beat up 69 3/4 ton, longbed stepside, granny low 4speed, 250 6cyl unrestored is worth 5 grand. This crap seems to have a trickle down affect. As in the case of base camaros of the 67-69 era are even high now(let alone ss, z28s).
