'69 GMC DS support bearing

[IMG][/IMG]I need help finding a driveshaft center support bearing for my '69 GMC 1/2 ton 2wd. The ones at the local parts stores don't even look close to the massive one that is on mine. I don't even see one in any of my catalogs. Do I need to go find a driveshaft shop? Thanks David

Re: '69 GMC DS support bearing

[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]At the first parts store i went to today called it that & it was one he said fit trucks all the way up to the 80's or 90's. It had 1 bolt hole on both sides to bolt it up & was a single unit. It looked a lot smaller than mine, which has 2 bolts on each side & 3 bolts holding the 2 halves together.

Re: '69 GMC DS support bearing

I have sold parts for years and only know of the more common tear drop style for our trucks and the horseshoe style that was the hd one for our trucks and through the early 90's. Can you get a pic of yours?

I'll get out the digital camera & crawl under & try to post some tomorrow after work. Thanks for help, I may have to pull it out next week & take it into Houston to find one!

Re: '69 GMC DS support bearing

Just go to a drive shaft shop. The one that my one ton longhorn called for was super expensinve since it hadn't been made in almost 18 years, so he measured everything and got one for a late model application for like 12 bucks. Plus, may as well have them put it on there for you, they have a press instead of hammers.

Re: '69 GMC DS support bearing

I'd try the driveshaft shop. I have never seen one like that. Good luck on it

Thumbs up Re: '69 GMC DS support bearing

A big thank you to JSBGUMP & Longhorn Man for their replies. I called C-T Driveshaft & they knew which one I had by phone, but they don't carry it anymore. He had me call Kevin @ Houston Drivetrain on East 610 Loop & he said mine is obsolete. He said there is only 1 alternative replacement, but it will look different for $30. I'm going to take Longhorn Man's advice & get them to install it with new u-joints for around $100. Thanks again ya'll, David
