PB booster upgrade?

Howdy! Seems that I may need a brake booster for my '70 k20 suburban. What other booster may be interchangable? PArts availability around here is fairly scarce, if I can bolt on a booster from a 73-87 truck that would simplify matters. If there was an aplication that worked better, that would be good also. (I'm rinning 37" tires so a little help is good) I don't think it matters but I'm running a 76 corvette master cylinder and discs all around.

Thanks!

Re: PB booster upgrade?

I have a 77 mc on my 67, however if I remember right I had to cut part of the bracket that mounts to the firewall in order to make it fit properly. Very simple mod with a hacksaw and you'll see what I mean once you test fit it.

Re: PB booster upgrade?

i installed a booster & mc from a '92 sub. the only mod i did was interchange the rod t othe peddle from the booster, & then i had to modify the mounting bracket on the booster to the firewall, i had to cut some of it away for clearance.

Re: PB booster upgrade?

yes, but you will need to modify the mount and unless you drop the mount hole on the pedal you will lose some pedal. Braking will still be fine. The 65-72 use a fulcrum lever firewall mount that makes for more travel with less pedal distance. The rebuilt Cardone units for the 67-72 will run about the same dollar for a 73 up. My opinion unless you are a fabrication freak like I am ---go with the stock setup. Either way power brakes are a great addition.

Also I can tell you that the rod from the firewall mount is 8.5 inches to the center of the pedal hole. On the 73 the rod hole has to be enlarged and moved to use the stock pedal hole and bolt.
