Thanks to the board
Several years ago I had an opportunity to help a board member here with some parts overseas. This has continued until today. This past summer, this member and girlfriend came to America and stayed with my family for a few days. This was the first time we had ever spoken or met. My wife and I feel that it has been one of the best experiences of our lives.
The connection was made through this board. Tim Christian and GMC Paul have helped with parts. Many members have helped with techinical information and parts info and location. I could not have done it without this great group of people. I also know that some people on here have been burned by others with parts sales and purchases but I would like to say that I have done very well on here and would encourage anyone to make an offer to help others. It may be a risk in some ways but if things go well, it can be the reward of a lifetime. We now have lifelong friends from around the world. Thanks to Josh, the mods, the members and the vendors. Maybe the truck hobby can solve world peace.

Re: Thanks to the board
Cool story. I've met some pretty cool people so far buying, selling and picking up parts for free. I haven't really been burned yet (knock on wood), hope it continues

Re: Thanks to the board
I would have to say this would probably be the best message board on the web. Everyone gets along and has good advice to give. I would to also like to thank everyone here too.

Re: Thanks to the board
I don't know how I've missed this site for the last six years but I did. This is my first online family. Since I got here found out that I needed to buy some equipment (digital camera and new printer, scanner, copier) and update some equipment (6 and 8 year old computers) to bump up the enjoyment factor. Thanks to Shifty I have a new computer that has the right options. I freely admit that Computers For Dummies is advanced reading for me. While waiting for my account to be activated I spent a lot of time looking around and found that we are blessed with a lot of people from all walks of life. So we pretty much have a onboard fix for any problem that comes up. Thanks for letting an old man join the modern world. I'll try to stay out of the way while I'm catching up. Ron (Mr Round Tuit)

Re: Thanks to the board
I have only met one other board member (BillBB72) from Torrance, CA. He and his bride drove through our fair city, and at least we got to refer them to a better motel than the one they had found before they got to town. The next day, we drove them around, looking at properties before they had to leave. Still communicating with them.
I have seen more respect between individuals on this website than on another one that I don't visit any more. The other (non Chevy) website has a bunch of people with bad potty mouth and a general lack of respect for just about anyone else. So, it's nice that this one is so cordial, even after several years of membership. The fact that new people, young people, still find it is good.

Re: Thanks to the board
I love having friends that are as knowledgable as this yall. You make driving a broke down old truck a lot of fun instead of a constant headache. Thanks to all of you who have worked and documented so many jobs for the rest of us. I look forward to meeting and getting to know yall a lot better.
