Re: tool box ??????????

Came in 70,71,72. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also came in 73,74,75. How rare? Question is, how many survived? Door is very prone to rust out.

Mine's not an ohio truck, and is one of the least rusted original trucks in town...
with that being said, mine is STILL a rust bucket.

Gaping hole option.... LOL!

Even mine is a bit rusty, and a good door is $300.

$300 for a rust free dore is a steal. I've seen them go for more than twice that.

just think of the rusted hole as a stage 3 weight reduction that was a factory option.....that reduction helps alot on them ET at the drags i tell ya ....thats what i tell everyone when they look at pics on local racing forums

Re: tool box ??????????

I had a guy trying to sell me a 3/4 69 and the bed was clean but it had that door. I didn't buy it because of it. I thought of ways to weld it shut or fill it in from a donor bed side.

Re: tool box ??????????

if the door was in good shape, you probably coulda sold it for the same price you paid for the bed.

Re: tool box ??????????

I had a 73 with the door. It seemed to have alot of 72 carryovers on it. I wonder if the 73 door is interchangeable with a 72. They sure look alike. Maybe an option for a donor!

Re: tool box ??????????

They aren`t interchangeable.Well,at least, they have a different contour and leaves a gap when installing a`73 on a`72.I bought a`72 truck with a`73-up door on it,It opened and closed fine.

Re: tool box ??????????

My door is in good shape but the hinges are bad .
I'll have to keep my eyes open for some decent hinges.

Re: tool box ??????????

I had a 72' K20 with a toolbox but the truck was so shot I scrapped it.I wish I hadn't of now.It didn't have the box or the door.Just the hole in the bedside where it had been.I know a place that has a good complete bedside with toolbox. They want like $1000 for it.

Re: tool box ??????????

a vendor used to repro the door, but so few trucks came with them that they didn't sell...which ment the price was stupid expensive...which made sales that much more difficult.
