Disc Brake Pad That Doesn't Get Rims Dirty?
The front disc brakes on my truck get my alloy rims dirty very quickly. Is there a disc brake pad material that doesn't do this?

they make covers that go behind the wheel and act as a shield. basically you can no longer get brake dust past that onto the visible part of the wheels.
then there's drums and those are your choices. you can coat your rims with stuff to prevent brake dust from ruining your wheels, or buy wheels with no holes like my centerlines (click my pink name to the left to view a pic in my public profile) there's nothing you can do to stop brake dust from happening, it's a bi-product of the pads slowly falling apart you can stop it from forming in such large quantities with light braking and constant car washes. I have an Acura Integra with alloy rims and the front wheels don't get dirty at all. I don't get it.

The Integra is really light. The brakes will probably last forever, too. The main thing is to stay away from metallic pads.

actually a pad that will put off less dust is the ceramic pads. Akebono makes them along with a few other companies depending on what you have for a disc brake setup they are available for the older style gm calipers. Ceramics give off about half the dusting which is why most newer cars and imports dont dust bad due to the fact that they come stock with them.

The ceramic pads do produce very little dust but are hard on rotors. I would rather use a lower grade pad and save the rotor.
