I found something in the driveway....

... and I cleaned it up. I haven't really messed with it since it was stolen last summer, but I'm glad I finally got around to putting the crate motor in it. It's a 72 Cheyenne Super and has a new 290 horse 350 crate, freshly rebiult TH350 and the original 3.73 12 bolt. I snapped some pics after I cleaned off all the crap. I have a LOT of work left, but I'm happy with my progress for the meantime.

I wish I could find something in my driveway like that. All I find are oil stains

Re: I found something in the driveway....

haha, all I find in my driveway are rocks, dirt, and grass. occassionaly some piece of garbage crap might show up, i.e. pieces of wire, or plastic things, or other general automotive garbage... well, with a little help unloading it and all, I did find a parts truck in my driveway once, complements of my friend... (and god help me from my mom, she'll find 200 bucks deduced from my bank account, and another parts truck in the driveway this weekend)
(and yes, last time she found a parts truck in the yard, I heard her from like 100 ft away, just loud as a plain sunny day, yell "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT" boy did I have some explaining)

They took the brand new Honda 300EX ATV out of the back, helmet, digicam, stereo, and CD collection out of the cab, ripped up the bottom of the dash, busted up the shifter, destroyed the tailgate, and hacked up the wires something awful. For some reason, whoever took it decided to hotwire the MSD box and the coil, so the coil exploded half a mile down the road. I can just see two or three dudes scootin off through the ghetto all hanging off my 4 wheeler at 3 am.

It was the second time since 99 the thing has been stolen too. It now stays at my Dad's house in the nice quiet suburbs.

If I didn't have my truck, you have the exact thing that I would want. I'm a big fan of the color combination.

Where in Decatur are you located? I spend a large amount of my time working at that huge church on the corner of Commerce and Clairemont. I'm always hesitant to leave my truck up there late at night because I've even known worthless cars to get stolen out of the church parking lot.

I'm on North Druid just north of Lawrenceville Highway. I'm moving next mnth though. The truck is out in Snellville though, I keep my S10 in the 'hood.

Re: I found something in the driveway....

I guess I shouldn't be surprised though I can't say I would've picked your area to be a place with an issue like that, having the thing stolen once is bad, but twice is ridiculous. I guess if thieves know whats in the area they'll go after it. There've been at least two cars every year I've been in high school that've been stolen or broken into right in the school parking lot, all with nice stereo systems, but I definitely wouldn't put my area down as a place with any real problem.

I kinda wonder what was going through their head when they were dealing with the tailgate. I guess they figured it was too easy to just lift the latch and lower it, but then again I suppose people who do stuff like that don't really think at all. At least you still got the truck and its in a safe location now, that things too pretty to have stolen for good. Good to see you're making progress on it.

Re: I found something in the driveway....

That tail gate damage is from disconnecting the straps and euing the gate as a ramp to drive down on with the 4 wheeler. The line on the wood trim is from the bumper.
Why did they mess up the dash and shifter? Just to be hoodlums?
That is sickening.

THANK YOU!!!! I kept thinking it was from them pushing the truck with another car or something, that makes since though.

As far as the dash, I had a CD player hanging from the screws that hold in the A/C control in a CB radio bracket and they just kicked it until the dash and screw parted ways. The shifter was a B&M megashifter and they aparently couldn't figure it out and just beat it to death.

Re: I found something in the driveway....

I like it. Always did like the green and white. The neighbor had one like it when I was a kid. He drove the truck till he past back in 98. Don't know whatever happened to it after that.

From your first statement I thought you were the one that stole the truck....

Just kidding. Nice truck. Must of broke your heart when it was stolen.

Re: I found something in the driveway....

How is that crate motor? I'm trying to decide between that one (290Hp) or the 350HO (330Hp). I think either will satisfy me (my K5 has an over-tired 307 hittin' on 7 cylinders most times), but I want to get my money's worth too.

Glad you got it back, sorry they ruined it for you.
