J.B. Weld Filler
Anyone ever use this stuff. It's great and hardens like steel. I thought that I would try filling the holes where the upper trim mouldings go. I didn't want to weld the holes, as I'm not that good a welder. After I put 2 coats of this in the holes, I tried knocking them out with a punch. Didn't even crack. Only thing I don't like, is the setup time is long. Can take 12 to 24 hours to cure. Now, lets see if this stuff holds up over the years.......

probly work as well or better than the fibreglass bondo I used. ( I know, I'm a hack ) but my truck ain't no show queen. Be intresting to see you your holds up.

All I know is that this stuff seems too work. Like I said, I tried to bang out the hole I filled, and it didn't even crack.......

I had a pin hole in the top of the tank on my radiator. I used a brass bristle brush to clean it, then used some acetone to remove the paint from the area to be fixed. I mixed up some JBWeld and daubed it on. Since the tank was still warm, the product flowed really nicely and got thin. The radiator never leaked again, from that spot.
JBWeld is good stuff.

I've used it for years. I patched a gas tank years ago with it and it worked great. I keep it around the house and use it for everything. If you plan on using it in place of body filler, watch out for pin holes, it tends to have more than body filler. It is some good stuff! Be sure to clean the surfaces very good with emory cloth or sandpaper. Have never tried the quick setting mix.

 If It wasn't for JB weld, hay wire, and 100 mph duck tape I couldn't fix anything.

I've patched a leak on a tank in a chemical plant with JB Weld.

it's great stuff, you can drill and tap, it works for every thing else that other similar products wont i guess time will tell but it's never let me down

I tried it on the AC control lever that broke. It lasted about 6 months and then cracked again. I also used it on my sons '65 impala rear panel, It was pot metal and the studs broke so I tapped new holes ran all thread in with JB so I dont think it will go anywhere.
So under stress I don't know how it would keep but for flat seals or somewhere where the metal is doing most of the work it will last.

i have had great success with it. prefer it much more over bondo as far as thickness, hardness, and the fact that its cheaper.

POR 15 makes a POR Epoxy Putty that works real nice also. The longer the cure the stronger the epoxy.

we used the jb weld Kwik on a little 4 cyl forklift engine that had some scores in it then honed it out and the engine is still running fine

reapaired a fine crack about 1 1/2" long on the water side of a marine manifold ( 4 cyl Chev marine engine ) Cut a V shaped groove over and just beyond the crack. Filled with JB weld and slightly overfilled to a rounded shape. Did this over 10 years ago and not a leak ever !!! Have used The JB for other repairs and am sold on this product. Have repaired cracked levers by placing a small finishing nail on each side of the lever at right angles to the crack. This re-inforcment seems to take the strain away from the JB weld joint and adds stength to the repair.

I have used it on dozens of engines to put screen kits and vent tubes in the lifter valley and never seen it fail. Also to repair salt water pitting on alluminum engine parts

I've only tried it once on the plastic gas tank on my power washer it held for about a week then started leaking again .

You all have inspired me. I'm not that good of a welder yet, and have mirror mount holes to take care of.
dwaite72lnghrn, I doubt the JB weld didn't hold on the heater controls, more likely the control broke again next to the JB weld. Once pot metal corrodes, it is worthless.

dwaite72lnghrn--I have been successful repairing pot metal heater controls and other type levers with JB Weld. Like I stated in previous message; lay a small finishing nail on each side of the crack. Apply a thin coat of JB to the lever, lay the reinforcing nail lengthwise along the lever and applying another coat covering the nail. I have also cut a piece of light metal the width of the lever (or a little less) on each side of the break, applied JB and let set up. .......Jim

I filled in the 1/8" holes on the top of the door where the word "Custom" was. What I did, was on the back side of the hole, I placed a piece of masking tape over the hole. Then I mixed up the J.B. Weld and applied it to the holes. Be aware that you will most likely have to put 2 coats on. Also, do be in a hurry for this stuff to dry. Hope this helps.......
