350 SBC For Sale

Anybody in the Houston area looking for an engine? I've got a 350 that might be available. This would be for a nearly complete engine; oil pan to intake.

I don't know the mileage and haven't pulled the heads yet but I know it needs a new oil pan gasket, new rings and the heads probably need a trip to the machine shop. Other than that, it seems to be in pretty good shape and ran fine.

Looking to get $250.

Re: 350 SBC For Sale

Hmm, tempting. Is it a 4-bolt main? I was saving up for a crate engine but a solid running 350 instead of my worn out, badly leaking, bad comp in #4 307 would be good, especially for low $$$.

Where did it come from? Did you get to drive it? Is anything aftermarket on it or is it pretty much stock?

Re: 350 SBC For Sale

It came with the truck I bought back in the summer but I don't know much about it. It ran pretty good for the past 5 months other than the things I listed on the first post. Bone stock, OE exhaust manifolds, most likely a 2 bolt main, but it does have a Q-jet 4 barrel intake.

When I bought the truck, the previous owner told me it was a 283. For some reason, I believed him and never looked into it more. I figured rather than rebuild it, I would swap it with a rebuilt 350 which is exactly what I did. So imagine my surprise the other night when, after the engine was already out, I ran the casting number (3970014) and it came up as a 350. I could have kicked myself. Anyways, that's why I pulled it. Had I looked and realized what it was, I never would have swapped it out.

Re: 350 SBC For Sale

Man, sorry to get all excited about it. I really need to NOT get an engine for the K5 right now, I have to move to NC in 3 weeks. Plus I am still stuck on the idea of a crate engine.

Sounds like someone else will be getting a pretty good deal though.

Yeah, I know pics would help. I'll have some posted by this weekend.

I can tell you this, it's the most beautiful color in the world: Chevy Orange...
