Chick Magnet....NOT

The wife had her first ride in Tangerine (she named my truck) last night. We went to Lowes to get some screws. When we came out there was a guy looking at my truck. He asked how much it was lowered and told me he was doing a '71 and pulled out some pictures of it. Man it was sweet. We talk about 10 minutes about our trucks and this web site, which he had never been to before, and I showed off my gas filler behind the tail light while the wife waited in the truck. When I got in the truck to leave see says "well it's not chick magnet is it.....more like a gearhead magnet". That's fine with me, magnetic chicks require too much maintenance and I'd never get to work on my truck

Re: Chick Magnet....NOT

I drove my truck everywhere when I was 16-19, about 9 years ago. I'd be walking back to it and catch people eyeing it. I think I had the only rust free 67 (SC truck) in south-west NY. I drove 'er to college my last year ('03-'04) and I got comments all the time. She may suck gas, but how many people say "hey, nice truck" to someone who owns a "gas saving" tacoma? I can say that 'cause I've owned three 86 toyota trucks. Not one comment ever

Re: Chick Magnet....NOT

Me too. My 'rents and family are still there. I was there for 2 weeks at Christmas. Without details... I lived in a small town near lake chautauqua near Jamestown. Ever see a black primer 67 stepper runnin around from '96 to '99? I went to Clemson University (in clemson SC) in fall '99 and worked summers in Columbia, SC. I now have a great job here in Greenville, SC. Funny thing is 99% of the peeps down here have NO idea I'm from NY. Grownin up country is country no matter where you are. They all think I was born here

No I can't say that I have fooled anybody about where I'm from, hence my nickname is my board name. Like you my family is still up there and always will be. I'm the only one that moved away and stayed away (I hate the cold),that was over 20 yrs ago. I lived about 100 miles east of you in a small town called Jasper (its on some maps).

I get similar comments. Not many around here that aren't eat up. Especially the 4x4's. Some nice 2wd's around.

Re: Chick Magnet....NOT

I have had a few women check out my K10 at cruise ins and rod runs. My wife thinks it's funny. I'm glad that she isn't the jealous type. As tall as my truck sits off the ground and as dark as the windows are she can't be seen with me. I just try to play it cool when a girl rolls up next to us and says "nice truck". The attention is always nice as long as I don't get into trouble! When my wife drives the C10 she always comes home telling me about guys asking her questions about it. I think it kind of trips them out when she can actualy answer their questions. She knows what year it is, what size the engine is, how much drop it has and just about anything else about it.

I saw this on an ebay truck some time ago and saved the picture. It just looks like there is more room than the turn signal filler. I don't know any specifics but I would like to try it if I ever move the tank on either of my trucks.

My 4wd has been on the road twice since I owned it, not much I know,
but the very first stop I made in it, Gas station where else, I was hit on,
I will have to check on this "Do you want to sell it?" stuff, anythings for
sale if the price is right, I almost sold the 4wd 3 times last year alone

Estate Sale !!!!

My Pink & White LB 72 draws lots of looks and attention. A well dressed young woman in her early 20's came up to me last summer one day when I was parking my truck at the local hardware and asked if it was for sale. She said she had seen it driving around and really liked it.. She also said and I quote" I'm no flake, I have the money to buy your truck if you want to sell".. I said I was flattered but she'd have to wait and buy it from my kids, if they want to sell it, in the estate sale when I die.. Every time I stop for gas I get compliments or questions on the truck.. Women sem to like it too, I guess its the pink color that attracts them.. I redid a 70 Panther Pink Charger R/T from 1985 to 1991 and then like an idiot sold it in 1993... That is why my truck will be in the estate..

Re: Chick Magnet....NOT

If you don't see a for sale sign on it it's not for sale. Half of those people don't have any money even if the truck was for sale. I cannot count the people that have came up to me in parking lots asking if my truck is for sale. Maybe it's just a conversation starter one good thing is I have sold parts that way by telling them that the truck isn't for sale but I have some parts for sale.

Re: Chick Magnet....NOT

I think classic cars in general are fun to drive for that very reason. If i drive my Nova anywhere alot of guys more or less gawk, and mines not even painted really nice, but you definately have to appreciate the occasional thumbs up and comments at the hardware store!

Re: Chick Magnet....NOT

The guy I bought my truck from was telling me as I was getting ready to leave how it seemed to be a chick magnet and women always really liked it. I was a little skeptical of all that as I was expecting all the girls at school to call me a redneck and roll their eyes (especially being in the suburbs, a lot closer to Atlanta than where the truck came from) but he was actually right! The first day I drove it I got so many compliments and surprisingly enough a ton of the girls loved the thing. Definitely a chick magnet and I definitely wasn't complaining.

Those 305s torque for days. I had one in my truck when I got it, hard to keep the tires from spinning. If you decide to change to a V8 put that ol V6 on ebay. I sold mine there, it was expensive to ship as they weigh over 900lbs, but the guy really wanted it.
