Is there any difference in the original bench seats put in our trucks? I found a parts truck that has an original bench seat (needs re stuffed and covered). I went to take it out of this truck and really noticed a lot of extra room under the seat. This truck was a 69 with no hump and my truck is a 67 3/4 ton with a hump under the seat. I know there shouldnt be a difference in seat but the wife is paranoid since we are spending good money to get this seat recovered. Put my mind at ease please.

There are differences between the 67-8 seats/tracks and the 69
but I don't remember the detail. I tried to use a 67 seat in a 69 and it did not work. I would suggest that you compare the brackets and how they mount before obtaining the seat.

There are deluxe seats and base bench seats. The deluxe seats typically come with CST/Custom packages or as a seperate option. (For 68 anyway) Other than cosmetic changes I think the deluxe seats have more padding built into them. Some backs fold forward and some do not. (From what folks have said here.) I'm not sure if there are mouting/track changes made through the years as Jim said above.

For what its worth, I put a 72 seat in a 68 cab.

The seat I stripped from the other truck seemed to be not as plush and hard as a board. The seat I have in my truck now, I have no idea what kind it is because the previous owners replaced things over the year. It is bigger or fatter to the eye. The mechanism is shot however and this new seat as basic as it is will be taken to the recovering shop tomarrow. The mechanism is in really good shape and she told me that she will strip it and repad it before putting the new LMC cover on it. I was just hoping that I wouldn't have to redrill holes for mounting or have it be higher than the other (I need room to operate that giant steering wheel). Thanks guys, with the advice so far, I'll just get the new seat recovered and deal with any problems I have.

There are foam seats (optional) and then the spring seats. Some seats fold forward and some don't. I didn't realize there was a difference in the tracks. I've put a 67 seat in a 72 and it bolted right in. Hope that helps????
