Re: mechanic help?

When you say "jump" are you going from "bat" post on selenoid to "S" post on selenoid? If so when you use the ing. switch you must not be getting enough voltage through the small wire to "S' post to kick it in. Check this wire with a meter with the switch in start position.

Weak battery? Fords are known not to start without a very strong battery...

You need to just crush the Ford and drive your truck...

Just kidding.....At least its american!!!made steel.....

Re: mechanic help?

the battery isnt real great but i have had it on the charger for 2 days and still nothing. when i mean jump i mean i take power from the positive battery post to the starter cable side of the solenoid. when i go from the battery side of the solenoid to the s terminal it just clicks

Re: mechanic help?

how much voltage should i have on the wire to the s terminal? what would cause that to fail all the sudden?

Re: mechanic help?

did you get a good ground on the solenoid to the fender or wherever it's mounted?

Re: mechanic help?

Sounds like a bad cell in the battery, you should have 12-13 volts at the solenoid. But a bad ground on the solenoid or the switch could be it or the wire which should be 12-13 volts as well.

Re: mechanic help?

the solenoid has a good ground im going to go ahead and go buy a battery as that may be the culprit i guess it cranks over good but if it cranks more the 30 seconds its dead so maybe it isnt getting enough volts. going to go get a new battery now be back tomorrow
