Re: Rechroming places
To get a good chrome job you will have to shell out some bucks. There is a lot of labor involved. First the part has to be stripped and cleaned. Then it has to be smoothed and polished. Following that, there are several steps of the actual plating, which regulations have made expensive. If you are getting a low-dollar job, you will not be happy.
I would avoid a certain person in Texas, there are people on several boards that would love to see this scam artist in jail. James Blanton

Re: Rechroming places
I got a quote of 787 bucks and was hoping to find cheaper than that. My 72 Duster just doesn't get justice with my original bumpers.

Re: Rechroming places
I Have Been Putting Repop Bumpers On Trucks That I've Built In The Last 10 Years Or So. The Last Oem Bumper That I Had Replated Cost Me Around $200, & I Can Buy A New One For About 1/2 That. John

Re: Rechroming places
So are the repops just cheaper due to the high production or are they not "good" or expensive chrome jobs?
I have my new bumpers sitting in the boxes and they look good to me, of course road grime and time will determine if they hold up like the oldies... |

Re: Rechroming places
The repop bumper I held was lighter than an original, but I am not sure who the manufacturer was. They look good, but I don't think they will last as long as the ones GM put on there. That being said, in 35 years we probably won't be driving this stuff anyway so who cares.

Re: Rechroming places
PM if you're interested in shipping it this way, a friend of mine has a hook up and I'll give you his info (after I talk to him). I know the last time I asked it was ~$400.

Re: Rechroming places
you might try A&A Plating. They are located in Independence Missouri. We have had several things chromed by them. Im very satisfied with their work. http://www.aaplating.com/ Dad had one of his bumpers rechromed and a bunch of parts for his 55 chevy re chromed, and i had my radio delete plate chromed by them.
