67 Gmc 4x4
Hi I am new on the board and I have a couple of questions if some one could help. My dad has a 67 GMC 3/4 4X4 it came from the factory with a large V6 does anyone know what size it is? I have been told either a 305 or 307 witch are know for being a V8. Does any one know where I can find a grill that has GMC imprinted in the middle? 67 was the last year GMC was in the grill most trucks have in on the hood. The truck has been restored before but I want to do it again it is getting in bad shape.

I better let someone else answer your questions, but welcome to the board and post some pics of your truck if you have them.

Re: 67 Gmc 4x4
That's a 305 V6. A 351 was offered but only in 2wd trucks. Last year of that engine availability in light duty trucks was 1969.
67 GMC grilles are being reproduced. Check with one of the vendors listed on the banner ads at the top of the page If you want info on that remarkable V6 powerplant, go here There are a couple of V6 experts on here, they may chime in if you have questions about that engine.

Re: 67 Gmc 4x4
Thanks for the info. I still have the v-6 but when my dad redone the truck he put a 350 in it because parts were so hard to come by for the V6. I hope one I can redo the v6 and try to get the truck back factory.

Re: 67 Gmc 4x4
Pretty much everything you would need is still available brand new for the 305's. The 351 and larger V-6's are a little tougher.

Re: 67 Gmc 4x4
V-6's are good engines if you plan to use them as a workhorse, or an engine to bomb around in on weekends. LOADS of torque, and with high-nickel in the block, they last for quite awhile.

Re: 67 Gmc 4x4
I know they are great motors. To this day my dad wishes it still had the V6. He said the torque that is had was amazing. When did they stop making the 4speed with reverse towards the driver? I will try to post some pics of the truck some time next week.
