Who has parts alternatives to LMC
I have been really griped with the service of LMC lately, every part I have ordered for my 3/4 ton 4x4 is wrong. they have no brake parts for this truck regarless of what the catalog says. I need to know what other companies are out there that you have found. also i am considering building my own trailing arms from 2x4 box steel. anyone have any info on this? thanks

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
I personally have had good luck with The Truck Shop in CA. www.truckandcarshop.com, but both of mine are 1/2T. You might look at www.classicperform.com and check out their trailing arm kit, pricey but it will give you ideas.

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
I've used Wess at www.classicheartbeat.com Never a problem.
I've used Rick at www.ricks pick up parts.com (copy and remove the spaces) Great prices and no problems ever Local junk yards NAPA and some crap chain stores from time to time. I've used LMC from time to time and was disapointed every single time. Order chrome 1/2 shields for my headlights, they sent me headlights... asked for a 69 - 72 chrome and black inst panel bezel, they sent me a full chrome one for a 67... those guys are so stupid they'd screw up an anvil. Messed up like a football bat... messed up as a soup sandwich...chicken noodle on wheat. Here is a thread with a list of vendors who support the board financially... and alsso some guys who part out a butt load of trucks and sell on here. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...t.php?f=3&a=10 Last edited by Longhorn Man; 02-04-2006 at 09:26 PM. |

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
I have used www.gmcpauls.com for most of my parts. Les and Paul are great guys.
I have also dealt with the Rick that Andy speaks of, no problems. I have heard a ton of great things about Wes at classic heartbeat too. LMC has a nice catalog, but that's about it as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
BTW most of the BB vendors will have pricing that makes you cringe about having paid LMC prices. They will make you wish you had asked this question much sooner.Do keep the LMC catalog it has good assembly pics and will help determine the part you need.

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
On a 72 truck, you should be able to get every single brake part at a local parts store right off the shelf, with the exception of hoses. They are 67-72 vendor items nowdays.

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
Tx... now I have a 70, so I know it isn't the same as the later stuff, however, i was able to get all my hoses at NAPA, and if I'm not mistaken, they have been discontinued also... so I say always check with the chain stores and your local NAPA before buying from the otherside of the country.

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
my problem was that the wheel cylinders had a brass machined extension with a banjo fitting on the end of it. it kept the brake hose out of the 4 wheel drive steering, the stock hose was too short, and the new cylinders were all made to put a hose right into them. and i knew that wasnt going to work

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
Andy, yes, the drum brake hoses are still stocking item at O'Reilly down the street. The 71-72 hoses, however are not available.
I'm sure it's because the drum brake hoses fit so many more years and applications.

Re: Who has parts alternatives to LMC
I've used most of the vendors mentioned on this thread and have had great luck with all of them. I've used LMC a lot and they have always been great. I have received a couple of really low quality parts from them but they took them back without any problems.
